Meet the future of telemedicine in Tromsø

Tromsø Telemedicine and eHealth Conference 2006:

The annual telemedicine conference in Tromsø, TTeC 2006, focuses on expectations for the future. From 12 to 14 June, researchers, health professionals and representatives from business and politics meet to share visions and images of the future within telemedicine and eHealth.

• - "Many of the pieces in the puzzle are now in place. A variety of interesting speakers will be there. This year's conference includes a wide range of researchers and experts with insight into the future", reveals Molly van der Weij, chair of the Programme comitee.

Large international forum
The Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine is the organizer of the international telemedicine and eHealth conference which every year draws 250-300 participants from all over the world. The conference's considerable international interest makes it a forum for networking and exchange of experience across national boundaries. This is also reflected in the programme.

Four themes
The programme is divided into four principal themes in which the common denominator is visions for the future. The themes are:

• Possible images of the future
• Innovation
• Policy and strategies
• Experience in telemedicine and methodology

Inspiration forum

• - "We hope that managers and decision-makers in the public health service regard this as an interesting forum providing inspiration for future initiatives in modern health services. Here they will obtain insight into the current status and the solutions of tomorrow," says Molly van der Weij.

Fountain of knowledge
The chair of the conference is committed to creating a meeting place for learning, networking and social fellowship.

• - "We are creating a mutual educational forum which includes much more than presentations of high scientific quality. It will also be a fountain of knowledge for everyone who wants to share their ideas about the future with others," she says.
