PasientLink - project information
PasientLink develops and tests secure communication between the patient and their regular GP (general practitioner) over the Internet. Pilot operation at the Sentrum general practitioners' office in Tromsø, Norway, started on 15 October 2002, and will take place over one year. The intervention group and control group each include 100 patients.

All software developed in the project is now availiable under an open BSD-lisence. The software is intended for developers who want to create applications for patient communication.
Brief description of the solution
PasientLink enables patients to contact their regular GP over the Internet. Patients use a Web browser to write their questions and read the answers. They log on using a user name and password, and a one-time code which they receive as an SMS text message sent to their mobile phone number.
Technical description of the solution
A detailed technical description of the solution which is currently being used in the pilot project appears below. This section has been written primarily for people with a professional IT background.
SMSAuthenticator
The SMSAuthenticator is now open source and availiable for download. The module is developed by Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine as part of the project PasientLink (PatientLink).
